First Day in Bangkok

Summary

  • The experience in Bangkok is similar to that in Malaysia. The infrastructure is insufficient and chaotic but quite energetic.
  • Multiple companies operate public transport which is relatively expensive. Therefore, people usually rely on motorcycles or cars.
  • Electronic shops and material shops remind me of the old days in Japan. Something is missing from today's Akihabara, and it is exciting to see.
  • Surprisingly, I've seen more Japanese flags there than in Japan. Many infrastructures are built with Japan's support, and Japanese shops and languages are everywhere. I also saw a lot of Japanese travelers.
  • People speak English well, but perhaps because the domestic market is somewhat limited.
  • The food is great, and hotels are cheap but provide stunning views.

Highlights

Public Transportation

  • The signs are confusing, and the prices are high. Overall, it is inferior to that in Shanghai, but the elevated line provides a stunning view, and its architecture is impressive.

    Siam Paragon

  • Located in the city center, it is probably the largest and most luxurious shopping mall in Thailand.
  • Gold is used in decoration more commonly in Thailand, creating a luxurious atmosphere. The elaborate decoration in each section is also stunning.

    Around My Hotel

  • My hotel is right next to the palace and a famous temple but still offers the cheapest prices.
  • There is an interesting electronic mall nearby, and the rooftop provides a stunning view at night.

    Food

  • Food is about 2 to 4 times cheaper in Thailand than in Japan and is delicious as well.
  • The stalls or markets are convenient and are often located inside department stores. The idea of placing malls inside markets is really good since it is clean and convenient. I hope it can be adopted in Japan too.

    Conclusion

  • Thailand is a place where both traditional and modern lifestyles coexist. The bustling malls that have left Japan are included inside the malls here.
  • Many countries appreciate Japanese culture, but unfortunately, opportunities are sometimes taken over by foreign entities. We must cope with the international market.
  • The decorations in Thailand use a lot of gold and mirrors, making it truly gorgeous to see. It contrasts with China and Japan's humble artistic style, but this one is also interesting.
  • It is the first country ruled by a king. The great power makes its palace and facilities truly magnificent.
