【Travel in America #1】Florida, Boston, NY traveling plan and predicted cost.

Introduction

I constantly seeking to travel abroad, because I want to study and work in the USA. However, even though I have studied abroad in Malaysia and Singapore, I never traveled to the USA because of its cost of living and many concerns regarding COVID-19. However, the best friend I met in VR Chat changed the entire situation. Not only did they give me tons of information regarding how to live, study, and work in the USA, but they offered me to stay at their place in Tampa and Boston and they even offered travel to NY. I'm so grateful for this wonderful opportunity and I would really love to record this precious memory for the future. As the last diary during my study abroad in Malaysia changed my life, I will make this memory a life-changing trigger.

Place to visit.

I've saved more than 200 places in America so far, and I carefully picked up the place I definitely want to visit. maps.app.goo.gl

MIT Museum

I've been attracted by MIT due to its fusion of science and technology. This is the place where technology will be applied to society with sophisticated design, and I really want to know the story behind the innovation. Also, as a target university, I would like to feel the campus life of MIT.

Harvard Art Museums

Harvard is famous for its liberal arts education, and it's commonly said that it's deeply rooted in a deep understanding of art. I'm going to know how Harvard students perceive art and how to apply them to scientific advancement.

Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum

That incident is strongly sticking in my mind because of its unique naming. All of the Japanese students know about this event and I want to know about how America recognized this big event and how it impacted America's independence.

Boston Public Library - Central Library

The book has been my main source of motivation to pursue my education. Sadly decent amount of English books are hardly available in Japan. Tons of books will increase proficiency in English and diverse knowledge which is yet introduced in Japanese books must be really inspiring. I'm also thinking of visiting State Library of Massachusetts and The Mary Baker Eddy Library

Times Square

This might be the most famous place in NY and reminds me of Shibuya Scramble Square. This super lively place must make me feel the energy of this big city and I should be a witness to the latest technology.

SUMMIT One Vanderbilt

This is a quite new observatory and offers a special view reflected by surrounding mirrors. The combination of art and scenery is truly attractive and it seems to offer no roof space as well. The grand central right next to it is the world's largest station and worth taking a look at.

Vessel

Even though this place was closed in response to never-ending suicide, the open-roof observatory Edge, art museum Shed, and park The High Line are right next to it and all of them look so attractive.

One World Trade Center.

As the highest building in NY, this place is definitely worth visiting. This place is also known for the 9/11 incident and I'm curious about the story behind those accidents. The Oculus Center next to it is quite unique and quite interesting. Since we already planned to go to the summit, we might not go there. However, this place offers a museum and attractive art in addition to it. Brooklyn bridge is a little bit far away, but definitely worth taking photos.

The Museum of Modern Art

One of the most famous art museums and is surrounded by many attractive spots like St. Patrick's Cathedral and Rockefeller Center. The exceptional amount of collection of art might help me to think creatively and might give me insight into how design should be in this modern society. 53rd Street Library right next to it is a historical library, and Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral are also located within walkable distance.

Objective

  • Connecting future career

Even though this is personal travel, I want to make this opportunity as starting point for studying and working in America. America is vast country so it's very imporant to know which place and which part of America bring me value which is unobtainable in Japan.

  • Get real experience

The information we can get from internet is not same as one I can get from actual experience since information has edited, and mostly omiting drawbacks. It's important know both good and bad point of the country, and how to take advantage of that uniqueness to my career. Recieving advice from admired person will be whole lot better than third persons point of view.

  • Find way to achieve dream

Some people says American dream is no longer possible, however some people are performing significantly well. To achieve my dream, being successful which is rich in money while keeping freedom is important. This travel give me the clear vision of my path by finding specific objective who already achirved my dream from similar situation.

Concern

  • This is not study abroad

I haven't taken any authentic lecture in person while studying abroad, and I'm very curious about how actual class in America going on and how can I adopt discussion based learning.

  • Will it really worth it?

The last study abroad experience in Malaysia has changed my mind completely inspired by state-of-art technology in chaos. Europian inspired culture in east coast is hardly available in other asian countries and this will be irreplacable experience which change my life positively since the last experience has done so much by let me get internship in big tech.

  • Was it the best option?

Roughly there was three option, doing internship, going another country, learning something at home. However being accepted by IT company is very uncertain and it predicted to be around 10%. Even though this travel might not be written in my resume. The story behind is very interesting which other student won't nomally do, and surely works positively in finding job and writing essay. The other countries I was thinking of visiting are Shanghai, HongKong, Beijing, Taiwan, however America has been my dream country I have never visited, so it instantly decided when my friend accepted me. Getting connetion to professor surely the promissing path, however doing so might be overwhelmingly difficult, and there is still famous business figure who has succeed by meeting successful individual.

Checklist

  • Am I doing what is impossible in Japan?
  • Have I tried I have never been done?
  • Can I connect experience to the future?
  • Have I searched background in advance?
